Diakonessenhuis Wins Business Intelligence Award

European Hospital Improves Quality of Care and Process Efficiencies Using WebFOCUS

Information Builders, an independent leader in business intelligence (BI) solutions, today announced that its customer, Diakonessenhuis, a hospital with several locations in the Netherlands, won the Business Intelligence Award during the recent BI Symposium. Diakonessenhuis uses Information Builders WebFOCUS BI platform to improve efficiency and quality of care. The national award is granted annually to the "smartest organization in the Netherlands."

The jury recognized Diakonessenhuis for implementing a clear vision and strategy within a short period of time. The hospital showed leadership by investing in smart, patient-focused finance methodologies and adhering to tight margins in a very dynamic market. Making intelligent use of information, the hospital was able to analyze, optimize, and monitor complex hospital processes and valuable resources. This put Diakonessenhuis in a better negotiating position with insurance companies and allowed it to better serve its market segments. Leveraging WebFOCUS, the hospital reorganized processes and guaranteed shorter treatment times, enabling it to provide faster, better, and less expensive healthcare. 

Other nominees included Politie Amsterdam-Amstelland, International Card Services (ICS), KPN Retail, and the University of Tilburg. The nominees were selected from 150 participants in the National BI Survey, which is carried out on a yearly basis by research agency Passionned.
